When performed by an experienced physician, neonatal circumcision is a generally safe procedure. In our community, almost all neonatal circumcisions are performed by either the Pediatrician or Family Practitioner. These physicians will discuss the procedure with parents, the medical benefits and risks, which should be considered prior to consent. Circumcision is not medically necessary. Most parents will decide on circumcision based on ethnic, cultural, religious and individual preferences. The urologists of Cleveland Urologic Surgery, PA, are experienced in circumcision and are happy to discuss the procedure with parents. Please contact our office for more information.
